Guidelines for Exceptions

An extremely limited number of exceptions are made for students with extenuating circumstances who do not meet the stated admission criteria. A committee reviews student appeals on a regular basis.

Because of campus impaction, exceptions to the minimum CSU requirements are rare. Students should have a viable back-up plan at an alternative campus.

Students may appeal by sending the following:

• A brief personal statement, no longer than one typewritten page, detailing the circumstances.
• Submit two letters of recommendation. We suggest that teachers and counselors who know your academic skills be your references. These letters must be on school or college letterhead or sent via official school email.
• Send the three letters in one package to:
